THE DUKE & THE KING NEW ALBUM & FREE TRACK
The Duke & The Kings debut album Nothing Gold Can Stay was one of 2009s most acclaimed albums, with its heady mix of rootsy folk-rock and vintage soul earning comparisons with artists ranging from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young to Sly & The Family Stone. Little over a year later, the band lead by Simone Felice and Bobbie Bird Burke prepare for the September 27th release of their second album, the extraordinary Long Live The Duke & The King.

Download album track "Shine on You" for Free here:
Entirely self-produced, Long Live The Duke & The King was recorded in the bands own studio/shack deep in their home woods of Bearsville, New York, just across the creek from the grave of Bob Dylan's notorious manager Albert Grossman. Exalting in their ongoing love affair with rock, folk, soul and psychedelia, The Duke & The King have officially knighted two irreplaceable members to the cast, Nowell "The Deacon" Haskins (of Parliament-Funkadelic liniage), and The Sensational Simi Stone, both of whom contribute golden vocals throughout this stunning collection of songs.
BAD RELIGION RELEASE THE DISSENT OF MAN
Celebrating three decades of influential, thought provoking and groundbreaking punk rock, Bad Religion will release their fifteenth studio album, The Dissent of Man, on September 27. The album's first single "The Devil in Stitches" made its debut on the world famous KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles last month and can be heard now at www.myspace.com/badreligion. Fans can preorder The Dissent of Man now at www.BadReligionStore.com.

The Dissent of Man finds Bad Religion pushing the boundaries of their music as much today as they did in their formative years as a genre defining punk band. Over the course of making the album, primary songwriters Greg Graffin and Brett Gurewitz's songwriting was informed by life changing events, with Graffin writing his forthcoming book "Anarchy Evolution" (out Sept 28) and Gurewitz embarking on parenthood again.
"These are some of my favorite songs I've ever written," says Gurewitz. "A few of them took me way outside my comfort zone as a writer to a place I haven't gone since Recipe or Stranger than Fiction."
The result is one of the band's most forward thinking and musically varied albums ever. The Dissent of Man is not only a snapshot of the band's personal experiences of the past years but also of their continued maturity in songwriting.
"I feel like the last couple of records have been amongst our most conservative, never straying too far from a Bad Religion sound," adds Gurewitz. "Whereas on this one we're taking the songs to a lot of different places, exploring our influences and trying out some new things in a way we haven't done in years."
The Dissent of Man is a testament to why Bad Religion has remained relevant for the better part of three decades. Already having cemented their place in history as a groundbreaking band who helped create a movement in Los Angeles with classic releases like How Could Hell Be Any Worse?, Suffer, Recipe for Hate, Stranger Than Fiction and Process of Belief, Bad Religion continue to inspire and create with a unique style that continues to cross boundaries and transcends genres.
As Bad Religion wraps up their 30th anniversary, they open the next chapter of their storied career with The Dissent of Man.

HARPER SIMON'S BERKELEY GIRL VIDEO
Harper Simon has debuted his brand new video for the song "Berkeley Girl" - an old-fashioned love song of the sweetest variety.
Directed by Benjamin Kutsko from LA-based film collective/production company The Masses (Devendra Banhart, Passion Pit, Beach House, Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros), the video stars actress/musician Jena Malone (Into the Wild, Pride & Prejudice, Donny Darko) with a cameo by singer/songwriter Henry Wolfe. Shot on 8 mm film in the hills of Echo Park, LA's new bohemian hub, and drenched in golden light, the video recalls the romantic quality of the great films of the 1970s - a perfect fit for Harper's classic sounding folk-rock love song written to a friend.
Says director Benjamin Kutsko, "I was really excited to explore Echo Park as a character in this video, as well as the delicate balance that exists between two people whose relationship has moved from lovers to friends. Those are both 'places' where I have found some of my closest loves in this life! Shooting on film was important to me; the second the song begins, it is clear that Harper's voice doesn't live in a digital world."
Berkeley Girl is released on 13th September.

THE ARCHITECTS NEW SINGLE DAY IN DAY OUT
BBC Radio 1's prestigious Rock Show, hosted by Daniel P Carter will be exclusively premièring the brand new single from Architects entitled "Day In Day Out" on Monday 30th August from midnight to 2 AM. Don't fret if you can't stay up that late or aren't based in the UK you can still hear the new single & show online for the following week at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006wq4s
The digital single "Day In Day Out" due to be released on 27th September via all digital platforms will be the first single to be taken from the band's eagerly awaited new album "The Here And Now" which is due to hit the shelves in early 2011

Architects singer Sam Carter comments on the new release "'Day In Day Out' is going to be our first single & will also be the opening track and the perfect introduction to our new album. Lyrically it touches on a running theme through the album which is basically our lives and the way we lead them. We spend a lot of time away from home to do what we do and it doesn't always feel like it's worth it. The song is questioning what we do, but it is also very positive and is about keeping your head up even when things aren't going your way. Parts of our new record will definitely surprise some people, but I think this song has more familiar aspects of Hollow Crown whilst still showing glimpses of where we've taken our song writing on the new record."
Architects will embark on more touring just a few days after the release of "Day In Day Out", first will be their UK headlining tour with labelmates Devil Sold His Soul and also with Norma Jean & Lower Than Atlantis and which will be followed by another North American run alongside Atreyu, Bless The Fall, Chiodos and Endless Hallway. Soon after they will head back to Australia, so please visit http://www.myspace.com/architectsuk to view their complete touring itinerary.

DINOSAUR PILE-UP MONA LISA VIDEO
Dinosaur Pile-Up have unveiled their ace new music video for forthcoming single 'Mona Lisa'. Check it out below:
Following the success of 'Birds And Planes', Dinosaur Pile-Up are set to release new single 'Mona Lisa' digitally and as a 7" backed by B-side 'Headspinner' on 27th September. That's the week before the band's highly anticipated debut album 'Growing Pains' drops. Vocalist / guitarist Matt Bigland says of the track "Mona Lisa is about having no money, no time, living on instant noodles, with no heating. I was sitting in my room surrounded by crap and just thought 'Hey, this is kind of like trying to paint my 'Mona Lisa'''

The band have unveiled a music video befitting of such a melodic rock anthem-in-the-making which sees the members of the band taking on various characters. Several facts pertaining to the making of the video are as follows -
Bonus Fact 1: DPU made the bad guys' costumes out of exercise balls and silver gaffa tape.
Bonus Fact 2: Matt's giant head took 1.2 kilometers of plastic piping, 3,000 cable ties and a shit load of pink paper to make.
Bonus Fact 3: The dead dude under the white sheet in the doctors' surgery is Matt's best friend, Matt Maude. The pair wrote and co-directed the video together.
Produced with longtime collaborator James Kenosha, Dinosaur Pile-Up's debut album 'Growing Pains' will be unleashed on the world the week after 'Mona Lisa' is released and the band will set off on a full headline tour shortly after that.

TRES BUJAS - THE SWORD
The Sword have unveiled their new music video for 'Tres Brujas', taken from the bands new album 'Warp Riders'.
Check out the video for the single below:
Guitarist and lead vocalist J.D. Cronise explains the lineage of Warp Riders: "I'm pretty sure the first concept album I ever heard was Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche when I was a kid, which I was way into. Even though I never really understood the whole story, I was nonetheless enthralled by how the album created its own world. I wanted to create a setting for our songs that would be unique and different, but still a place where epic sagas unfold in proper Sword fashion." Inspiration took hold from "lots of things … the legend of Atlantis, old Heavy Metal magazines, the films of René Laloux, a childhood dream, and The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda to name a few."
"(Warp Riders) is very mythological in scope and presentation, but it eschews some of the fantasy-inspired, romanticist themes that run through our first two albums," says Cronise about the album, the story of which has been years in the making. "It deals with themes of death and rebirth, and the perception of time. Using allegorical fantasy and mythological imagery to write relevant, interesting lyrics can be somewhat difficult, so the idea of creating a complex narrative to draw from was very appealing."
Everything you've loved about The Sword in the past has been magnified, amplified, boosted and gnarlified. Warp Riders is the most accurately realized effort by the band yet, a tribute to comic books, dimestore sci-fi paperbacks, the legacy of FM rock radio, and the all-consuming power of heavy metal.

THE ARCHITECTS UK HEADLINE TOUR
Since their formation in late 2004, Brighton, England quintet Architects have been on a continual ascendancy. The band have made a huge splash in North America this past summer as part of the highly successful "Cool Tour," which featured As I Lay Dying, Underoath and Between the Buried and Me. The group immediately followed that tour up with a lengthy Canadian co-headlining run with The Holly Springs Disaster, also a huge success.

Architects will capitalize on this momentum this fall as they make their much anticipated return to the US alongside Atreyu, Bless The Fall, Chiodos and Endless Hallway. This massive, must see touring package kicks off on Oct. 20th and runs through November 27th, so be sure to visit http://www.myspace.com/architectsuk or see below to view their complete touring itinerary.
ARCHITECTS recently wrapped up the recording process for their new album with renowned producer Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and look for that to be released early next year. In the meantime, a special tour edition of "Hollow Crown" is now available ahead of their upcoming headlining tour, as well as some newly confirmed dates in Northern Ireland & Eire. The special tour edition comes shrink-wrapped with a full Bonus-DVD that includes a 24min. documentary (filmed and edited by the band), "Early Grave" and "Follow The Water" video-clips, "Hollow Crown" remix by the band and an animated photo-gallery.

Pendulum's hectic summer schedule has already included a hugely diverse range of major festival appearances such as Radio 1's Big Weekend, Sonisphere and major outdoor shows with The Prodigy and Tiesto. THE DUKE & THE KING GET SHAKY
The Duke & The King follow the tremendous critical acclaim that greeted the release of their 2009 debut album 'Nothing Gold Can Stay' with the September 20th release of the new single 'Shaky'. 'Shaky' previews the band's second album 'Long Live The Duke & The King' that follows on September 27th.
An uplifting moment of countrified soul resplendent with the band's sweet four-part vocal harmonies, 'Shaky' will be released on 7" and download formats. As with the rest of 'Long Live The Duke & The King', 'Shaky' was self-produced in the band's own studio/shack deep in their home woods of Bearsville, New York and was mastered by the renowned Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, The Band).
Watch the Shaky video here:
Long Live The Duke & The King' captures the band's essence, a ramshackle travelling circus in which different voices tell different stories. Simone Felice and Bonnie 'Bird' Burke remain the central architects, but it's a more collaborative project than its predecessor. Nowell 'The Deacon' Haskins' gospel-tinged lead vocal on 'Hudson River' recalls the greats of classic R&B, while 'No Easy Way Out' combines The Sensational Simi Stone's vintage soulful tones with a pop-orientated country rock sound that matches Felice's light-hearted description of the band's new sound as "Fleetwood Black."
Simone Felice returns to the UK in August for a full solo tour as well as festival appearances at GreenMan and Edinburgh. The Duke & The King are set to return to these shores for their biggest gig to date at London's Electric Ballroom on October 27th.

MUSEE MECANIQUE HOLD THIS GHOST AND TOUR
Portland's Musée Mécanique are heading back to the UK in September for three dates to promote their upcoming new single "Fits & Starts", taken from the album "Hold This Ghost", which will be released on Souterrain Transmissions on September 20th.
After having released "Hold This Ghost" to much critical acclaim and toured for the first time in the UK in 2009, the band are returning as part of their European tour, as a five piece, rather than the duo which came to these shores last year.
Creating music from items as wide-ranging as tack pianos to saws, hand-operated ice cream makers to old radios, the song writing talents of Sean Ogilvie and Micah Rabwin are not only a sound to behold, but a sight too within the live setting of their shows especially now the three extra band members [Matthew Rubin Berger, Jeffery Boyd and Brian Perez] are coming along for the ride.
The tour dates in September are:
21st - London, The Borderline
22nd - Brighton, The Albert
23rd - Bristol, The Louisiana
SOUND OF GUNS ELEMENTARY OF YOUTH
Sound Of Guns are releasing new single 'Elementary of Youth' on September 20th and will be heading out on tour with Detroit Social Club in October.
Liverpool's Sound of Guns are making headway since first causing a noise as part of the BBC's 'Introducing' sessions last year and will now release a new Chris Potter (U2/Verve)-mixed single 'Elementary of Youth'' on September 20th through Distiller Records. The track will be available on 7" single / digital download and includes a new song, 'Silent Canon'.

Written and produced themselves in their Penny Lane studio, the five-piece perfectly show off their big raucous eclectic styles on this record. The single is taken from their recently released debut album 'What Came From Fire' and has lofty ambitions on being the one that breaks them to the mainstream. Their previous single 'Architects' was play-listed on daytime Radio One and XFM. The track was also 'Single of the week' on Greg James radio One show.
After a summer of festival appearances (including an 'eventful' trip to Mallorca Rocks with The Courteeners), Sound of Guns are set to prove their rock credentials at this year's Reading (August 29) and Leeds (August 28) before heading out on a headline tour and a run of dates with Detroit Social Club this Autumn.
Already tipped for great things from the likes the Guardian, NME and Q, frontman Andrew Metcalfe aims to sell their music as being not-your-average Scouse sound. He says: "We didn't have any boundaries - I love the Coral, and the La's and bands like that - but in terms of the music we wanted to make, that sound didn't really appeal to us. We were all into The Walkmen, for example, who make a big noise. They are also big on Led Zeppelin and The Doors, amongst others. I think people were expecting this typical Liverpool band, and that's why people became interested so quickly, people seem to connect with the choruses."
Sound of Guns are set to tour with Detroit Social Club (gigs marked*) in October and all live dates coming up are:
Leeds Festival, Leeds (August 28th)
Reading Festival, Reading (August 29th)
Bingley Music Live, Myrtle Park (September 4th)
Birmingham Rainbow (October 8th)*
Newcastle Academy 2 (October 9th)*
Manchester Ruby Lounge (October 11th)*
London Dingwalls (October 12th)*
Sheffield Plug (October 14th)*
Glasgow King Tuts (October 15th)*
Leeds Faversham (October 16th)*
The Big Reunion, Skegness - w/The Courteeners and The Twang (November 20th and 27th)
MOTHER MOTHER REVEAL BODY OF YEARS
Mother Mother have revealed that their next UK single will be the dance-inducing 'Body of Years'.

Vancouver Canada's Mother Mother will release new single 'Body of Years' on September 20th, backed by B-side 'Touch Up'. Vocalist / guitarist Ryan Guldemond says the track is "a Gouge Away meets Billie Jean inspired rock anthem about reconciling with, or perhaps NOT reconciling with one's dirty little secrets from one's sordid past, and of course, all the inherent guilt that comes along with all of that. Something we learned from our parents and good friends."
Mother Mother have generated a lot of support from all sides in the UK after the release of their album O My Heart and the recent visit with performances at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City amongst others. Their modern pop/rock with beautifully bent portraits of vocal harmony, clever, offbeat lyricism, and dynamic instrumentation found many fans. Their sound is best encapsulated on their sophomore album, O My Heart, produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers).
First two singles Hay Loft and O My Heart picked up broad support from NME Radio, Absolute Dabble with a wide range of DJs giving their support on BBC 6 MUSIC and Radio Two, where O My Heart was voted to become Record Of The Week.
PUSH IT AWAY SEERAUBER JENNY
Seerauber Jenny is set to release their double A debut single 'Push It Away' / 'Waste Of Time' though Label Fandango on September 27 2010. This release will be available on Limited edition 7" & digital download.
Borne of the seaside and manipulated somewhere near Moss Side, 'Push It Away' is Seerauber Jenny's first ever release. It is prickly and enigmatic, racy and rolling - a tense, nervous heartache. 'Waste Of Time' meanwhile is lush and lonely and therefore a typically lovely, brooding Label Fandango flipside.
Seerauber Jenny was founded by young Fran Barker in a leaky conservatory with a 4-track, a miscellany of instruments and a bag load of fuzzy influences including Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. These raw acoustic creations, earthy and shoe-gazey, captivated the interest of fellow band member Neil Claxton, formerly of Manchester based Mint Royale. Fran's woodland musings - with its feet on the floor and its heart reaching for the stars - fused with Neil's electro pop ideals are what give the band their distinctive edge and charm.
The live plot adds yet more smoke to the hall of Seerauber Jenny mirrors: Fran's live performance is compelling and enthralling. Already being picked up on the BBC Introducing radar, the live experience has glided into action also supporting The Clientele at the ICA.
LIVE DATES:
September 17 High Voltage Manchester
London & Brighton dates to be announced shortly!
TORCHE'S SONGS FOR SINGLES
'Songs for Singles', Torche's upcoming addition to a six year stretch of well deserved lionization within the world of progressive metal, is basically a super solid collection of singles written by, and therefore in, the instantly appealing songwriting style developed by the band.
Now, if you are unfamiliar with the Torche because perhaps you've been time travelling or sliding in and out of polar universes since the early 2000's, critics commonly refer to the aforementioned songwriting approach as doom and or sludge pop.

So, Torche and every bit of music they produce sounds like Torche, and the bands that have followed suit... well they also sound like Torche... A bit bold and maybe a little arrogant for us to point out, but why beat around the bush... Semantics etcetera aside... You, just like everyone else, have probably been waiting patiently for some new material since Meanderthal! Well here it is. Enjoy.
FOXY SHAZAM OH LORD
To support their single and album, Foxy Shazam will be bringing their good times mobile to the UK giving fans a chance to experience their notoriously rambunctious live show. The band will be performing at the Reading/Leeds Festival plus 3 London shows - including support slots for Lost Prophets and Motion City Soundtrack. This follows the band's previous UK trip supporting Hole earlier in 2010.
Citing influences as varied as Marvin Gaye, Elton John and "Born To Run"-era Bruce Springsteen, Foxy Shazam have been creating unique, genre-defying music since they formed in 2004. Foxy Shazam is an amalgam of blues, soul, and brash pop bound by a no holds barred punk-rock aesthetic.
Foxy Shazam UK dates are as follows:
Wed 25 Aug Shepherds Bush Empire Supporting Lost Prophets
Thur 26 Aug Underworld Supporting Motion City Soundtrack
Fri 27 Aug The Flowerpot
Sat 28 Aug Leeds Festival Festival Republic Stage
Sun 29 Aug Reading Festival Festival Republic Stage
THE SWORD WARP RIDERS TOUR
The Sword recently visited the UK to support Ozzy Osbourne at the iTunes festival and play their own intimate (and sold-out) show at London's Barfly. The Sword return to these shores in November but in the meantime, they're keeping themselves busy with a stint supporting longtime fans Metallica in Australia and Japan.
'Warp Riders' is released in the UK on 23rd August through Kemado Records. Stay tuned for a trilogy of music videos which accompany and tell the story of three of the album's most exciting tracks.

Detroit Social Club, who signed to Fiction Records (home to Elbow, Kate Nash and Ian Brown) a little over eighteen months ago, have spent some serious time working on their first release. 'Existence' was co-produced by DSC's front man/songwriter David Burn and Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, UNKLE). Burn says making the record was 'a strong experience. Really hard, but rewarding' and that their debut has definitely succeeded in capturing the 'warm, rich sound' their leader set out to achieve, as well as taking them to a new level as a band. 'Making this record really pushed us' he says, 'without a doubt helping us to become the band we are now'.

The Futureheads released their fourth studio album 'The Chaos' in April, and is arguably their most riotous to date. Following high-profile support slots with The Pixies and Foo Fighters, this four-piece from Sunderland have taken heed of these rock heavyweights and written songs that rip through walls with the scale and sheer force of their delivery. Remaining fiercely loyal to their Mackem roots, the new album was recorded over a series of sessions with long-standing friend David Brewis (Field Music), and renowned producer Youth.

THE WHODLUMS FOR TEENAGE CANCER
THE WHODLUMS are a Who tribute band, formed in mid-2006 with the aim of recreating the authenticity and sound of The Who live. They are based in the Newcastle area but have performed shows all over the North of England. The Whodlums play an array of Who songs, from early singles such as Substitute and My Generation, through to later hits such as Who Are You and You Better You Bet. In between there are selections from classic albums such as Tommy, Who's Next, Live At Leeds and Quadrophenia, giving the audience - whether the die-hard Who fan or the casual listener - a performance to remember.
"We are all really excited at the prospect of playing at big venue like the O2 Academy. And to do it in support of a charity as worthwhile as Teenage Cancer Trust makes it all the more special. We were lucky enough to meet Roger Daltrey at a TCT function a few months ago, and we are aware of how much hard work he does as a patron of TCT. It is a real pleasure for us to be able to play this show in Newcastle to raise funds for such a great charity."

THE WONDER YEARS SHOW US THE UPSIDES
The Wonder Years have announced a full UK release of The Upsides, the band's restless diary of growing up, getting out and making the best of what you have.Arriving October 11 in stores and online everywhere, this re-imagined version of the original US edition of The Upsides not only has a new face to it... it also has 4 brand new tracks that we're sure you'll have on repeat.
Wanna check out the CD? Watch as Soupy walks you through the new artwork:
The Upsides is a record about hope. During the past year, The Wonder Years found themselves trudging through their early twenties alongside an army of downtrodden friends. It felt like sadness had become the status quo and that didn't sit well with them. On a bike ride around the fountain at Logan Circle in their hometown of Philadelphia on the first day of spring, the idea struck that this constant state of defeat was no way to live and out of that, The Upsides was born. Instead of a writing format derived from the ideas of one member, The Wonder Years built a record out of opposing influences, colossal arguments and gallons of sweat. In writing The Upsides, The Wonder Years have created a soundtrack for the hopeful.
In addition to the standard CD, Hopeless have created a very special limited edition fan pack that includes, yes, a Wonder Years lunchbox! Don't worry it's filled to the brim with everything you could possibly need... a Hopeless & Wonder Years button pack, a Wonder Years poster, a very necessary lunch lady shirt, and because we know you deserve it, a hand signed, and numbered suspension notice.
A full U.S. tour with Four Year Strong this fall awaits these soldiers of the road. They'll also be playing with pop-punkers New Found Glory Stateside later this month, before they head down under. UK touring plans are also in the works.

VOCALIST ROD LETHAL LEAVES THE SMOKING HEARTS
Band seek new singer
It is with great sadness/anger/regret/sorrow that The Smoking Hearts have parted ways with vocalist Rod Lethal. After years of being in a band together, playing gigs, partying, wrecking venues/pubs/houses/each other, Rod has decided that… Well, that's the thing. None of us actually know.

On July 12th, 2010, after being friends for 10 years, Rod decided that he would send a text to the 4 other members of The Smoking Hearts that simply read: "alright lads, I'm quitting the band". And that was pretty much the only explanation we ever received. He has turned his phone off, he won't answer the door, and is not responding to any communication that we have sent his way.
The Smoking Hearts were forced to cancel their upcoming shows, including their appearance at the Boardmasters Festival in Newquay.
The band now intend on tracking down a dedicated, ambitious and exciting singer to front The Smoking Hearts. If you are interested and would like to get in touch, please email:

After completely slaying the UK & Europe on their recent May 2010 tour that saw them call in at The Great Escape, Stag & Dagger and a superb you'll-claim-you-were there showing at Brixton's The Windmill, the mighty Tweak Bird announce their debut album for release in August 2010.
"I'm pretty excited about the positivity and heaviness of it," says Tweak Bird's drummer Ashton Bird about his band's self-titled album, "Because we're happy and we're playing heavy music. And it doesn't seem like people are doing that very much."
Ashton and his brother Caleb make up the Illinois-based duo, sometimes expanded to a three-piece, and even they have trouble explaining whether they fit into any scene. "When we play with heavy bands, in my mind I'm thinking 'what a great bill!'" says Caleb, the older of the pair, "But we're not that heavy. Play with a pop band and I'm all 'hey, they write pop songs like us'."
'Tweak Bird', produced by regular collaborators Deaf Nephews' Dale Crover and Toshi Yasai of the Melvins, who also worked on 2008's mini-album Reservations, features beats as tough as the Birds' fraternal harmonies are ethereal. Recorded in less than a week, the record regularly returns to themes of space travel and escape, the raucous astral optimism of 'Lights In Line' and 'Sky Ride' evocative of lost sixties psychedelic dreamers like KAK and Population II.
"For the last year we were touring, and it was inspired by moving round a lot, concedes Caleb. Another influence is less obvious. "I was listening to a lot of T Rex," he confesses, "I love Marc Bolan's songwriting technique- pretty much a guitar groove with weird little ditties on top. Pop music at its purest."
THE LIKE RELEASE ME SOON
As those of you who bought yesterday's Sunday Times, or the recent issue of Elle magazine will know, it's all happening for LA ladies The Like.
The Like returned to British shores back in May when they released He's Not A Boy; the fantastically well received first single from their new album Release Me, which is released September 6. Having recently confirmed Leeds & Reading Festival appearances plus support dates for The Strokes, and with Release Me set to come out on September 6th through Polydor, the band have just unveiled the video for their new single Wishing He Was Dead.
Wishing He Was Dead is released on 30th August, a biting riposte to a cheating lover who might just regret his follies. Z Berg explains, "Wishing He Was Dead is a song for every girl who's been conned, cheated, wounded, and bamboozled. After all, what girl hasn't? It's just a fun little ditty about wishing ill on the one who wronged you."
With wry lines like "If I could snap that neck, that broken record trainwreck, I might feel okay.... 'Cause I just can't forgive and forget, When I'm through with him, He will be wishing he was dead", this sharp stompathon rings out like a rumble between Nancy Sinatra and Girls Aloud, if they were to actually ask their men to deliver on 'The Promise'.
We were first introduced to The Like in 2006 when they signed to Geffen Records and released their debut album Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking to critical acclaim, and toured worldwide, playing Coachella, the Wireless Festival, and opening for bands such as Muse and Kings of Leon. The long awaited new album is the product of hard work, fortuitous new partnerships and great songs that reflect a long and winding period where the band has collectively been through it all and come out on the other side far stronger for the experience. Release Me heralds the arrival of a tighter and more enthused band, one with a stronger and deeper sense of who they are.
Fresh off their US tour with the Arctic Monkeys the band returned to the UK in May for a storming string of London dates and, following a tour of Australia with The Strokes, they will return to the UK in August for Reading and Leeds before hitting the road for a full UK tour in September:
28th Aug Leeds Festival

THE COWBOYS FROM HELL RIDE AGAIN
Pantera found its growl and groove on Cowboys From Hell, a landmark album whose bone-powdering intensity, razor-sharp riffing and pummelling rhythmic assault represented a turning point in modern metal when it was released in 1990. More than just Pantera's major label debut, many consider this album to be the official debut of the Pantera lineup with singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, his brother, drummer Vinnie Paul and bassist Rex Brown.

To celebrate the 20-year anniversary of Cowboys From Hell, Rhino rounds up a three-disc Ultimate Edition, a three-disc Deluxe Edition, and a two-disc Expanded Edition. All three editions include a newly remastered version of the original album along with unreleased and rare live performances from the "Cowboys From Hell" Tour.
The Ultimate and Deluxe Editions which will be released in September at all retail outlets, including www.rhino.co.uk will also feature a disc of unreleased demos for nearly every album track, plus, "The Will To Survive," a previously unreleased song recorded during album's sessions.
"'The Will To Survive' is a great track. With so many killer songs, it was hard to pick and choose the ones that should make our major label debut," says Paul. "After hearing it for the first time in about 20 years, it's a pretty stellar performance and I am definitely proud that it will see the light of day for all the die hard Pantera fans around the world! It shows the true musical diversity of the band at that time!"
The Ultimate Edition will feature all three discs included in the Deluxe Edition and will be housed in an intricate box including several replica memorabilia pieces from the Cowboys era. The Ultimate Edition will be available in November. Along with the remastered version of Cowboys From Hell, all three sets include a disc of live music recorded during the tour for the album.
After being turned down "twenty-eight times by every major label on the face of the earth," ATCO Records A&R rep Mark Ross saw the band when Hurricane Hugo stranded him in Texas. The rest, as they say, is history, including another seven years and over a million miles of touring for Cowboys to be certified Platinum (one million album sales) by the RIAA.
The album's liner notes include essays by each of the band's surviving members, producer Terry Date, and the aforementioned Ross. Recalling the first time he saw Pantera, Ross writes, "By the end of the first song, my jaw was on the floor. The sonic power of it all - the attitude and the musicianship - blew me away. Basically, you had to be an idiot to not think they're amazing. I mean, how could you see these guys and not think, 'Holy shit!'?".
SOUNDGARDEN & GUITAR HERO COLLABORATION
Recently reunited Soundgarden will release their first collection of music since 1996 in the form of Telephantasm on September 28th in the US and September 27th internationally. This multi-label, career-spanning retrospective album includes beloved band hits, deep back catalogue cuts and a never-before-heard unreleased track entitled "Black Rain," taken from the Badmotorfinger recording sessions. Telephantasm marks the first time ever a collection of its kind has been collated in one place.

The band has announced that they will be partnering with innovative gaming publisher Activision Publishing, Inc. to release the album on September 27th / 28th via A&M/Universal Music Group inside 1 million copies of the new videogame Guitar Hero®: Warriors of Rock. This release marks the first time a music album will be simultaneously released and bundled with a video game launch. All North American Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock launch units will contain the 12-song retrospective disc and will be exclusive to Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock for one week (until October 5). Additionally, fans will get full access to the band's new album as downloadable content for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock day and date with the launch of the game.
"We are thrilled about the exclusive and trailblazing partnership between Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and Soundgarden," said David Haddad, Chief Operating Officer, Guitar Hero. "The fact that this seminal band chose Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as the way to reintroduce themselves speaks volumes about Guitar Hero's ability to deliver music, in an exciting, interactive way, to millions of music fans and gamers. The extensive collaboration - bundling Telephantasm with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, including the unreleased "Black Rain" as an exclusive in the game and releasing the entire album as downloadable content - demonstrates Soundgarden's and Guitar Hero's commitment to delivering a great experience for its fans."
Additionally, on September 27th / 28th A&M/Universal Music Group will be releasing 3 expanded versions of Telephantasm which will include a double-disc with 12 additional tracks, 5 of which are previously unreleased, and Soundgarden's first-ever DVD, featuring 20 videos, 13 of which have never been released. These 3 expanded versions will be available at all music retail outlets and on the band's website.
On April 16th 2010, Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameron of Soundgarden took to the stage together for the first time in 12 years at the Showbox Theater in Seattle. Playing songs from their celebrated and acclaimed catalogue, the result was nothing short of brilliant and saw the four band members playing with the same heart and vigor for which they have always been known. On August 8th, Soundgarden will hit the stage again, headlining Lollapalooza in Chicago's Grant Park, preceded by a sold-out show at the Vic Theatre on August 5th.
FOXY SHAZAM
Inimitable rock 'n' soul sextet Foxy Shazam have announced the international release date of their self-titled Sire Records album for October 11, 2010. Produced by John Feldmann, Foxy Shazam is the Cincinnati, OH band's major label debut. The album is preceded by the release of the band's first UK single, the infectious 'Oh Lord' on September 27, 2010.

To support the single and album, Foxy Shazam will be bringing their good times mobile to the UK giving fans a chance to experience their notoriously rambunctious live show. The band will be performing at the Reading/Leeds Festival plus 3 London shows - including support slots for Lostprophets and Motion City Soundtrack.
From the anthemic "Unstoppable" to doo wop power ballad "Bye Bye Symphony" , the swooning "Connect Me," and Rob Cavallo produced, Justin Hawkins featuring "Count Me Out", Foxy Shazam is an amalgam of blues, soul, and brash pop bound by a no holds barred punk-rock aesthetic.
Foxy Shazam UK dates are as follows:
Wed 25 Aug Shepherds Bush Empire Supporting Lostprophets
Thur 26 Aug Underworld Supporting Motion City Soundtrack
Fri 27 Aug The Flowerpot
Sat 28 Aug Leeds Festival Festival Republic Stage
Sun 29 Aug Reading Festival Festival Republic Stage
BLOOD RED SHOES AND FANS HEARTSINK
Over fifty hardcore Blood Red Shoes fans stand on a waste ground somewhere in London, some have traveled from only a few streets over, others from as far afield as Portugal, Holland or Berlin. They clutch what will soon be bits of broken and twisted metal, torn paper and burnt clothing. For now these items are intact, VCRs, school uniforms, mix tapes, ornamental plates, Instamatic cameras, guitars, love letters. These fans are here for one purpose to smash, trash, destroy or burn an item that means something to them, whether that item is something they hate or love is up to them……. Their stories, halting and shy at first, came rolling out like confessions - and so is the concept behind the new video to 'Heartsink' the new single release from Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter, out on August 16 2010.
Blood Red Shoes second album Fire Like This has been out since March and has seen them go from strength to strength with yet another huge line up of dates across Europe stretching from now until December. The duo have been touring heavily since the release of their sophomore album back in Spring and are set to stop off in over 50 European cities before the year is up, as well as a stint of Summer festivals on UK shores.
The track "Heartsink" is a prime example of the DIY spirit that runs throughout the album. Recorded on analogue at Liverpool studio, The Motor Museum, the tracks frantic harmonies and scorching guitars creates a perfect rock song as Steven explains:
"We took the energy and simplicity of that four to the floor beat and layered it with a guitar sound as aggressive and industrial as possible. We never want to make anything too easy to get into, it'd be boring. It's a pop song that we tried to destroy from the inside out basically"
The single comes backed with the track "Into The Night", a cover from an episode of one of the duos biggest influences; "Twin Peaks". Originally recorded for a session on Zane Lowe, the reaction to the cover was so positive that making it a b-side made perfect sense!.
The band will play the below UK festival dates and will also play two headline dates this Autumn in London & Manchester:
Upcoming live dates -
27 August- Reading, Festival Republic Stage 8pm
29 August- Leeds, Festival Republic Stage 8pm
6 October- Manchester, Club Academy
7 October- London, Electric Ballroom

TWEAK BIRD'S TWEAK BIRD

Yet no one writes pop songs quite like Tweak Bird. Take single 'The Sun/Ahh Ahh' , kicked forward by a nagging, tough riff before peaking halfway, then gently spiralling away in an extended saxophone solo by the featured John McCowan, it's a scream to a whisper, an inversion of the usual formula. 'Flyin' High' adds the unexpected colour of a frail flute. More conventional is 'Beyond', Ashton's favourite track, a rush of pure excitement that, like most of their songs, doesn't even scrape the three-minute mark. "We have short attention spans and big ideas," laughs Ashton, "We like to get our jobs done."
Their sound is different too. Caleb plays a baritone guitar, pitched (and sized) halfway between a regular guitar and bass and most often used by early surf bands. "I didn't even know they existed when we started out," he says, "But I always wanted something heavier." Now he regularly faces questions from curious fans, laughing at the suggestion that he might start a trend. Alongside him the powerhouse Ashton knows that drums are not for tapping. "The secret's in my arms," he jokes, "Most drummers are into having a good sounding drum set, but to me most drums sound good if you hit them hard. That's my trick."
They are less convinced by perennial Black Sabbath comparisons. "That never bothers me. Why would it?" says Ashton, but it's obvious that he doesn't really believe it. The Bird brothers are self-effacing to a fault. Yet brothers they are, responding to cues onstage with expressions that range from delight to fury. They're just as unpredictable offstage. "When we're not playing music we're arguing about something," says Caleb. "We bring friends along on tour which brings the tension down."
But it's the tension that makes their sound so intriguing. Clad in one of the greatest mock-heroic sleeves, Tweak Bird defies easy categorisation, sometimes frenetic, sometimes ominous, always joyous. "Don't look back. The future's coming," goes the jokey/boastful, speaker-stretching opener 'The Future'. It's pop alright, but not as we know it.
HARPER SIMON'S BERKELEY GIRL
In support of his recent critically-acclaimed debut album, singer-songwriter Harper Simon is set to release the beautiful Berkeley Girl as a single. An old-fashioned love song (though this time written to an old friend) of the sweetest variety, Berkeley Girl puts Simon's gift as a lyricist to the fore. "She is juniper and roses/She is amethyst and pearl/And though she makes her home in Hollywood/She's really just a Berkeley girl," it says.

Harper Simon is a singer-songwriter based between Los Angeles and New York. Released in April, Simon's eponymous debut won plaudits across the board for its taut songcraft. It was recorded in Nashville, New York and Los Angeles with the help of an impressive and decidedly eclectic, multigenerational group of musical collaborators - famed producer Bob Johnston (the man behind classic recordings from Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen), an all-star group of veteran first-call Nashville session players, an impressive group of contemporary young singer-songwriters and musicians, friends, and yes even Harper's own father, the legendary Paul Simon.
But for all the crucial musical support he received from so many great artists, Simon himself is everywhere on this debut album. He sings most of the gorgeous and evocative harmonies and plays the lion's share of the stunning guitar parts, as well as co-arranging both the string and horn arrangements, which bring unforgettable musical shading to the album. He has taken time and care to make an album built to last. And this is only the beginning.
Likely to be heading back to these shores in September, you can catch Harper Simon right now at various festivals and venues.

DEAD CONFEDERATE GIVING IT ALL AWAY
Dead Confederate unveil a disturbing surgery-based music video for forthcoming single 'Giving It All Away'. Directed by Jason Miller, the video is darkly poetic and features the band being at the mercy of a group of small children (found through a casting call on craigslist). It really conveys the meaning of the song which deals with how musicians put so much of themselves into their music in return for so little. There were some additional bonuses on top of the creation of a stunning video. Guitarist Walker said "I never knew how comfortable a hospital gown was.... now I know why the Scottish wear kilts!"
Dead Confederate are all set to unleash their new album Sugar on the UK on August 30th. Preceding the album will be the release of 'Giving It All Away' on August 16th. The track is a collaboration with J Mascis (Dinosaur Junior) that soars with energy and a little bit of slide guitar. "I had almost written that song for Dinosaur Jr. It's about appreciation and understanding for fellow musicians; the struggles that are the ties that bind musicians together," Dead Confederate's Brantley Senn (Bass/Vocals) said.
The band's progression with this new album has been shaped by tours with legends Dinosaur Jr. and Meat Puppets, which increased Dead Confederate's appreciation for the pioneering musicians of the 80s and 90s that laid the foundation for the band's sound. New songs that developed were also lighter and tighter, without abandoning the driving guitarwork and unbridled emotion that has set them apart.
With guidance by star producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, The Hold Steady) Sugar pounds with a weighty, dark alt-grunge fervor that recalls Smashing Pumpkins' heyday; at other times, the record buzzes with a frantic distortion and howling anger reminiscent of The Walkmen. Psychedelic and prog-rock elements add depth to a broad and diverse direction for the band — perhaps most evident on 'Run From The Gun,' which blends harmony and Mellotron into a drifting, airy commentary on war.
For the band, Sugar feels like their first true album, with Wrecking Ball feeling more like a collection of their early songs. That cohesion on Sugar is prevalent even when songs continue the foreboding feel of Wrecking Ball, such as Morris' wailing political lament of 'By Design,' and somber, ominous finale 'Shocked To Realize.'

INTRODUCING: MOON VISIONARIES - ONES TO WATCH
After kicking up a fuss across London since their first gig in early July this year, South London based Moon Visionaries have been attracting a lot of attention.
Named as 'Breakthrough Band Of The Day' by NME and having been interviewed by Steve Lamacq for his Unsigned Band of The Week segment their song 'Mr Hollywood' has been putting the band in good stead. With their eclectic taste in music and the ability to play some of the most glorious pop music the UK has produced in recent years it's easy to see why this band are ones to watch.

WAVE AND CLOUD FROM THE WHISKEY PRIEST
The Whiskey Priest release their majestic new album Wave and Cloud, on the 23rd of August 2010. The Whiskey Priest is Austin, Texas based songwriter Seth Woods, aided by good friend and fellow Austin musician Alex "hooch" Dupree, Seth began working on The Whiskey Priest recordings in May of 2006. Gathering with a small group of friends in a down town church attic, they recorded a handful of songs to Alex's four track tape machine. These became the beginnings of Wave and Cloud, a record that would finally see its completion in 2009, and its eventual release in 2010.

It's probably fairly unusual that a record label can, with any real level of honesty at least, suggest that they're about to release a truly 'classic' album - one that could actually affect its audience to the point where it deserves the tag 'life-changing' - but we have that record: Wave and Cloud by The Whiskey Priest.
Wave and Cloud is devotional, spiritual, inspirational... at once uncomplicated, yet equally unfathomable, simultaneously humble and transcendent. Quite honestly, it's rare you will hear anything quite so glorious.
THE LIKE ARE WISHING HE WAS DEAD

Fresh off their US tour with the Arctic Monkeys the band returned to the UK in May for a storming string of London dates and, following a tour of Australia with The Strokes, they will return to the UK in August for Reading and Leeds before hitting the road for a full UK tour in September.

TWEAK BIRD DEBUT RELEASE

Tweak Bird release their début album on August 16th.

BLOOD RED SHOES HEARTSINK
Blood Red Shoes are pleased to announce the release of new single "Heartsink" on August 16th.Taken from their brilliant new album 'Fire Like This'.
The band will play the below UK festival dates and will also play two headline dates this Autumn in London & Manchester:Upcoming live dates -

PASSION, PAIN AND LOYALTY FROM ORPHAN BOY
Orphan Boy are proud to announce the release of their album 'Passion, Pain and Loyalty' on August 2. The single 'Pop Song' will precede the album on July 19.
The album will be available digitally and on CD, the single will only be available as a digital release.
As the band put it:
"Passion, Pain and Loyalty was written for all the people who listen to records alone in their bedrooms and stare out of the windows late into the night. It's still got the energy and imagination of the first record, but the music is bigger this time. It's sharper, deeper and more accomplished. We like to think that it could become one of the last great rock 'n' roll records. Which, for three scruffs from Grimsby, would be pretty good going. But even if no one buys it, this record will always be a success to us, because our aim was to make a great album, and that's what we did."

In the lead up to the release of 'Passion, Pain and Loyalty', Orphan Boy will play the following warm up gigs and festivals. Full album tour in August/September :

LITTLE FISH BAFFLED AND BEAT
Little Fish release their debut album 'Baffled And Beat,' on August 16th. The songs on the album, titled 'Baffled And Beat', are about love, life, betrayal and pain according to Juju. "Our songs are about people. They write away our sickness. They define us by what we are not. They speak of chaos and confusion, relationships, their conflicts and our need for cures. The songs run alongside all that we live; our failings, our contradictions, our hungers, our excesses, our exits, our shadows. A wound opened by betrayal, love, life is slow to heal. If we bow our head and look to the ground, it is because we are searching for the things we have lost. Mostly the songs speak of the constant strain living has on the nerves, so as to make sense of it. They speak of people with possibilities, of junk in need of hunger and of the pains within us. People waiting on street corners and in cafeterias for love and life to happen, all this knowing that one day affection will burn us and we will make it to happiness. It came to us to sing, to play as the songs ran along with us."

PERFORMANCE RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE
'The Unconsoled' is the follow up to 'The Living' and another example of Performance's unique style of literate English pop. Inspired by the kazuo Ishiguro novel of the same name, 'The Unconsoled' is musically joyous and lyrically intelligent. Unsuprisingly, Performance are a band with issues. They have overcome things that would have broken a lesser band - drugs, depression, disease, losing a band member, major label politics - but Performance never quit they just got better.

DEAD CONFERDERATE'S SUGAR
Dead Confederate, a five-piece from Athens, Georgia, are all set to unleash their new album Sugar on the UK on August 23rd. With an evolving approach and focused, streamlined sound, Sugar explores new styles beyond the aching, bleak psychadelia of the debut.

NOISIA & KRS-ONE
Let's take it back to the beginning - Noisia and fellow producer Mayhem recorded a track three years ago called Exodus with the legendary rapper KRS-One throwing down vocals in his inimitable style. Around the same time, an extremely talented fan got in touch with the trio with a video he'd made for Concussion for fun. That fan was Alexander Lehmann. From a man that has worked on the likes of feature film District 9 and social commentaries Du Bist Terrorist and Cleanternet, this amazing video is the culmination of every fan's dream, but multiplied a million times over.
Fresh from releasing their début album Split The Atom, Noisia are back with a video set to make eyes stretch and jaws drop, thanks to the incredible work of Alexander Lehmann.
The video was so impressive that the guys emailed Alexander back and the correspondence continued back and forth with the idea of doing a full project together. That project ended up being Exodus, and after many, many hours and constant modelling, editing, rendering and visits to Groningen to work with Nik from Noisia, the video was ready.
After this video went on Vidzone on May 6th it received over 180,000 plays in only three days. It thereby became the most successful video ever hosted on this exclusive music video platform for the Playstation 3.
This track isn't on the Split The Atom album, or associated with the Split The Atom single [which is out to buy on May 31st] but with the video being such an incredible work of art coupled with the huge tune, Noisia didn't want to hold it back any longer.
fun. WITH THE GAMBLER
fun. filmed a rather special acoustic version of album track 'The Gambler' at the apartment they were staying at when last in London. In the run up to their shows around the UK why not take a look at the video and find out just what they have in store.
43 DAYS BLUE ANGEL
Having met at Backstreet Studios on the Holloway Road, Bella and Jake bonded over mojitos and melodic musings before combining their shared paranoia of city life. With an album pencilled for an October release, the pair have decided to digitally release '43 Days' n May 3rd 2010 as the first taster of their labours.
'43 Days' was written in response to the recent spate of stabbings throughout the UK. When Jake read about a stabbing on his regular bus route, he immediately decided to put down his thoughts in response. The result is a haunting yet uplifting track of escapism.
Complete with a stunning black and white video as its accompaniment "It is a story of lost life, through death and the unborn because of death. It is a story of anonymity and facelessness. It is about the emptiness and meaninglessness of a single life in the sprawling hustle and bustle of a metropolis. It is for all the people who have died needlessly and the fact that we know them (through the reporting) but don't know them at all."
SPLASH BEHIND THE SCENES
Sub Focus releases his new single 'Splash' featuring Coco today. In a sort of celebration of the release and to get everyone excited and hyped up about the track, we have a making of video for the single for your delectation below.
Take a look and then go and get yourself the single.

OH MY HEART RELEASED MAY 31
Vancouver Canada quintet Mother Mother see the long awaited UK release of their album 'O My Heart' on May 31st. 'O My Heart' is Mother Mother's second album and since its North American release has achieved great milestones across radio, press and the charts in both Canada and the US.

NOISIA SPLIT THE ATOM
2010 has been the year that Noisia blew the doors off expectation and wowed fans across the world with their debut album "Split The Atom". Earning rave reviews in both the dance and mainstream worlds, the album gave even more than their burgeoning career had promised and they return with the release of the "Split The Atom" single on May 31st, and you can check out the video for the single right here.
In the year that the Hadron Collider was switched back on and successfully split the atom literally, Noisia are ready to pick up the gauntlet laid down by science and do the same sonically. With a fanbase that has already grown in the first few months of this year, the "Split The Atom" single is sure to carry that on into the summer where they will no doubt destroy any festival they touch down in.
DEAD CONFEDERATE START ME LAUGHING
Dead Confederate are returning to UK shores once more as part of Dot To Dot, Great Escape and for their own headline show at London's Barfly. To celebrate, they've got a new single out on 31st May
'Start Me Laughing', the second single to be taken from 'Wrecking Ball' was a last minute addition to the album.
"Start Me Laughing was a last minute addition to Wrecking Ball. It was a song we had played live for a while, but hadn't really considered for the album. As the recording continued, it started to seem more and more like a song that fit with the theme and vibe of the record, so we tried it on one of the last days of tracking" explains vocalist/guitarist Hardy Morris. "I wrote the song when I was angry, but it is supposed to sound like a release of anger; to remind people to laugh at their mistakes...it's supposed to be a happy song." The single and tour are a precursor for Dead Confederate's second album, which is currently in the final stages of recording and mixing, ready for release later this year. DO YOU REMEMBER? SWEET APPLE
Sweet Apple released their début record on April 19th and the band have made an incredible music video for the standout track and single 'Do You Remember?' featuring J. Mascis playing tennis with a guitar. Brilliant.
MUSEE MECANIQUE SLEEPING IN OUR CLOTHES
'Sleeping in our Clothes', the second single to be taken from their recently released debut album 'Hold This Ghost', is a rich and wistful tale of yearning and longing, showing yet another new facet to Musée Mécanique's multi-instrumental sound.
A SMALL TOUCH OF HARVEY MILK
Harvey Milk release their brand new album 'A Small Turn of Human Kindness' on June 7th.

'A Small Turn of Human Kindness' is as dense and as heavy temperamentally as it is musically. The seven songs so subtly bleed together that the listener has no choice but to view the entire album as a linear orchestration with a singular ebb and flow.... a rising and falling action, refined to hell and back.

NERO'S INNOCENCE
Nero's (Dan Stephens and Joe Ray) reputation has rapidly grown over the last couple of years. And having recently supported Chase & Status, among others, it's quite easy to see why they have signed to MTA Records - the new label from Chase & Status - sharing a love for all things bass, dubstep and drum and bass, breaking boundaries in their search for that perfect groove.
Their new single 'Innocence' is a great example of this and you can check out the video for it right here.
Nero are currently in the studio collaborating with Sub Focus and putting the finishing touches to their début album, which will be to 2010 what Sub Focus' début LP was to 2009, and 'More Than A Lot' to 2008.
PENDULUM GO 360.
Always eager to push the boundaries of the world's most innovative new technologies, Pendulum present the world's first ever 360º music video to debut their new track 'Salt In The Wounds'. The video contains a code that if cracked allows fans access to a free download of 'Salt In The Wounds' which is receiving unprecedented support in clubs right across the globe and represents a return to their more underground drum & bass roots.

Inspired by a CNN report that examined this groundbreaking filming technique, Pendulum decided to test the medium's possibility as an outlet for a new video. 360º videos are created by a single director using a video camera mounted on his head. Although the director can't monitor any of the footage as it is being recorded, his footsteps and the angle of his head dictate the shots that are created. The camera consists of five lenses working simultaneously, with the resulting video crafted together with bespoke rendering technology. The 'Salt In The Wounds' video offers a distinctly unique viewing experience. The viewer is free to navigate across various different camera angles simply by pointing and clicking the mouse, and in the process can direct their own interpretation of the film. This video was filmed on the outskirts of Moscow, with a former Russian army general leading the cast of non-professional actors. In order to understand the film's full story, the viewer needs to interact with the film to uncover elements of the plot; viewing it linearly will only provide part of the narrative. The video contains six letters hidden throughout the film. Pendulum return with their most visceral and enthralling work with the album 'Immersion' that's set for release on May 24th. The album's first official single is 'Watercolour' that's currently B-listed at Radio 1 five weeks ahead of its May 3rd release date. Pendulum will also embark upon a major UK tour this May that includes a landmark show at London's Wembley Arena. The tour will also introduce the band's new member, the world renowned electronic drummer KJ Sawka.
The song taken from K-OS' new album 'Yes' samples Phantom Planet's 'California' and is an infectious and brilliant slice of cool pop, and it also features rapper Saukrates and songbird Nelly Furtado.
I WISH I KNEW NATALIE PORTMAN
'I Wish I Knew Natalie Portman' is the debut single from K-OS and is released April 19th.
K-OS is currently touring the States with hip hop star Drake.
So for a nice summery antitheses to this years cold days, check out the video.
On April 15th, the premiere of the eagerly anticipated Ghostfacers webseries will air. The scheduled episode will coincide with the 100th episode of the CW's hit TV show Supernatural, a show in which the Ghostfacers first appeared. The first two episodes of the 10-episode webseries will launch April 15th, these are to be followed by two additional episodes each Thursday for the next four weeks. AJ Buckley has also stated via twitter "If the web series is a huge success it will become its own TV show! So when it launches on April 15th we need everyone to crash the server."
SUPERNATURAL'S GHOSTFACERS CONTINUE THEIR QUEST FOR THE PARANORMAL
The digital series, which stars AJ Buckley and Travis Wester as the worlds greatest and best self-proclaimed ghost-hunters, will premiere exclusively on CWTV.com.
Each of the episodes will be approximately 3-4 minutes in length, and on June 7th all ten episodes of the 'Ghostfacers' web-series will migrate from CWTV.com to TheWB.com.
In case you needed any help remembering how great the 'Facers are here's a small reminder.
So remember to make a note in your diaries and strap in for the scariest minutes in the history of your life. Strap in for... Ghostfacers!
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF BOE WEAVER, WHERE THINGS ARE DONE A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY...
Boe Weaver are less a band and more a state of mind. They make strange, exotic and heavy instrumental music; music without words because words can be wasteful and vocals will only taint or distract from what it is they create. And what is that exactly? Well, now. Let's see. It's a mood, a (eek) vibe, a monolithic lurch towards another plane entirely. It's music that goes beyond language and instead lifts the lid of your skull to swirl a finger around the gloop inside, and leaves you feeling all the better for it. It's musical trepanning. It's a forest fire. It's a lost satellite. It's velvet. It's hot wax. It's sunset and sunrise. Yeah.
On March 22nd they will release their self-titled debut album. It is like the world's greatest record collection squeezed into a band. Then cranked up really high.
As one review of Boe Weaver's debut so rightly put it "If this LP was thirty-odd years old and the soundtrack to some exploito-hacker movie, then it would be changing hands for £200-plus. However, it's a new release, which means you don't have to pay through the nose to land a copy... which you should." And you definitely should. Because what Boe Weaver do is far out shit, basically. A lava lamp of sound exploding in your face. A cosmic rearrangement and prolonged derangement of the senses that is totally necessary in an era when 99% of music does anything but that. What happened to wanting to change the world through music? Start a revolution? Healing the karmic wounds of the universe's sick and the needy? It's right here, baby. And we also know this: Boe Weaver work out of The Isle of Wight, they like to wear massive animal masks and they rarely leave the studio. They're keeping their thousand yard stares well-hidden as they get busy in 2010 and beyond as they set to work on new tunes and an array of projects, including numerous film soundtrack commission from Hollywood, Europe and Japan and plenty more Boe Weaver songs.

The first stage of the journey that began in earnest and which has now morphed into the occupation of this unique, self-created musical universe is now complete. Prepare yourselves for the next stage as best you can.
WORLD RENOWNED KJ SAWAKA JOINS PENDULUM
Pendulum edge even closer to super-group status with the news that world renowned electronic drummer Kevin Sawka - better known as KJ SAWKA - has joined the band. Sawka has already contributed to the recording of Pendulum's eagerly anticipated third album 'Immersion' and will be introduced to UK audiences when he joins the band's May tour that features a landmark show at London's Wembley Arena.

Hailing from Seattle, Sawka was initially drawn to electronic music by the sounds of Dieselboy, LTJ Bukem and Roni Size. His first breakthrough came with the cult all-improvisatory avant-garde drum 'n' bass trio Siamese who toured North America in 2002-2003 with shows ranging from support slots with LTJ Bukem and MC Conrad to a performance at the New Orleans Jazzfest. His recent career has included rapturously received solo shows, tours with BT and the development of the innovate iPhone app DrumBanger. Demonstrations of Sawka's remarkable talent can be seen in the videos below:

'Immersion' will be previewed with the release of the single 'Watercolour' on May 3rd
MOTHER MOTHER IN THE HAY LOFT
Mother Mother, a quintet hailing from Vancouver Canada, see the long awaited UK release of their single 'Hay Loft' on April 19th. The single is taken from the bands second album 'O My Heart' which is released on May 31st.
Generating much recognition and excitement with their original approach to modern pop/rock music; a beautifully bent portrait of vocal harmony, clever, offbeat lyricism, and dynamic instrumentation. Mother Mother's sound is best encapsulated on their forthcoming album. With considerable accolades and success in their native Canada as well as substantial headway made in the US, in 2010 Mother Mother turns their sights onto the UK and Europe with a spring release of 'O My Heart'. They will also be recording the follow up to their acclaimed sophomore album with a tentative autumn release. 2010 promises to be a fantastic year for Mother Mother! Ryan explains the band's excitement at finally coming to the UK: "A Mother Mother UK tour has been a coveted thing for years now. No stranger to Island Country, this is one archipelago we can't wait to get our hands on. And to be honest, we're not the most excitable band, but something like this.... we laugh and smile and make little noises..." See Mother Mother Live: May 19 London Brixton The Windmill

GANGLIANS CANDY GIRL
Sacramento's Ganglians have been doing the blog rounds for a few months since their album was released in America last year and now they're primed and ready for their European attack. The band will be releasing the single 'Candy Girl' on April 12th with the album 'Monster Head Room' following on May 10th along with a European tour throughout May and June complete with 2 UK runs.

The Ganglians, it has been said, want an island somewhere where they can soak in the sun and prowl the canopy by night. It's not often that they do get out, but they can get down for that. Recording sometimes as one, sometimes as four it's a real game to figure out where the entity comes from and where it's going. First and foremost it's about uncertain pleasures. It's a bit like choose your own adventure. There's "codeine balladry"; a slightly upsetting tempo that is quickly flushed into an aural high, the next moment you're in the toy strewn abyss of the bedroom and then out to the tribal caves of the natives. The planets align and the sun beats down, palms tingling, and you are on the island they've built, the scenery constantly shifting for a better view, of you. SUICIDAL RELEASES
Since their beginnings in Venice, CA in the early 80's, Suicidal Tendencies have led the charge in the skate punk/thrash metal movement, consequently influencing an entire generation of bands along the way.
Essential Music are proud to announce Live at the Olympic Auditorium, Suicidal Tendencies' first-ever DVD release. At approximately 80 minutes in length, the DVD features 16 tracks including classics 'Institutionalized', 'War Inside My Head' and 'Possessed To Skate' and captures the band in their most natural environment; onstage, uncensored and ready to tear you to shreds.
"The band started getting emails from some crazy guy that always said, 'I know you'll probably think that I'm crazy but I wanna book ST for a show and I got this idea...'," explains frontman Mike Muir. "Well, one by one we shot down the unique ideas until one time he emailed and said the Olympic Auditorium was being bought by a Korean Church, shouldn't it be sent off with a special last gig? The band agreed and then the work began. The promoter - Evel Dick Donato who went on to win Big Brother - tells a bit about the show, making of etc on the intro. Lots of drama, none more than the day before the show when I woke up and couldn't walk. But the show must go on and the back surgery would have to wait until afterwards! Suicidal performed live at the Olympic Auditorium in front of 4,000 Cycos...but now you can enjoy it in the safety of your living room." ESSENTIAL NOISIA
Noisia release their debut album, "Split The Atom", on April 5th and have announced that their album launch party has also will take place on April 9th at London's Fabric nightclub. Noisia will be taking over room 2 and will have more-than-able support from Phace, Rockwell, Andy C and more. It promises to be an exceptionally fun and loud night so make sure tickets are bought well in advance!
Their Essential Mix for Radio One was premiered on Pete Tong's show and saw the trio bring two hours of sonic chaos, variety and fun to the plate. Amongst their own music behemoths, their mix included the likes of Justice, Rockwell, Bullion, Spor, Sub Focus, Missy Elliott, Mr Oizo, Consequence, Foreign Beggars and many more, showing the depth of their tastes and ability to mix it all up into one glorious set. The band's video game set tongues wagging and fingers tapping on keyboards when it was launched last week as fans tried to stay in time with the band's beats to defeat the enemy of the level. If you've not already been involved, then strap yourselves in and go to www.noisia.nl/game to see what all the fuss is about. As if that weren't enough, the guys have put together a short video blog, so you can see them jumping over foam bricks, clips of the video game and, seeing Noisia do what they do best - creating carnage in club.
AN ACCIDENTAL NIGHT FOR WHITE BELT YELLOW TAG
With the release of White Belt Yellow Tag's new single ' Always & Echoes' imminent, vocalist Craig Pilbin had an unfortunate night off from the band's recent tour and somehow managed to have a ceiling fall on his head. Feeling slightly groggy and concussed in A&E, he tells his story to the production team from BBC3's programme Bizarre ER while he waits for the news as to whether or not the doctors will give him permission to perform the last gig of the tour.
The forthcoming single will precede the band's debut album 'Methods' which is released Monday April 5th of this year. Having already bagged some impressive radio and press support off the back of 3 Eps in the second half of 2009 the bands debut album is the perfect snap shot of White Belt Yellow Tag. Wide-screen and far reaching, the 12 tracks span a sound ranging from the slow grind of Slint to the euphoria of Doves to the icy grandeur of prime-time Bunnymen.
White Belt Yellow Tag are a three piece made up of Justin Lockey (ex Yourcodenameis:Milo), Craig Pilbin and Tom Bellamy. The three came together at the start of 2009 when Lockey and Pilbin met in a studio in Newcastle. Over the past 12 months the band have toured extensively and developed a fearsome live reputation.

ADDITIONAL LIVE DATES FROM THE SMOKING HEARTS
Having recently released their debut album 'Pride of Nowhere' to rave reviews, The Smoking Hearts have booked themselves some additional dates to support the record's release.
Storming out of rural England, The Smoking Hearts unleash a whirlwind combination of cutting rock 'n' roll and relentless punk rock that is best experienced in person.
A word that definitely won't be used to describe the band is graceful, their live shows have seen guitar headstocks smashed and drum kits sprawled across stages. It is not uncommon either to find half the band on the floor with the crowd and on occasion, half the crowd on stage with the band.

'Pride of Nowhere' clocks in at a frantic 29 minutes and 25 seconds. It is a record for many states of mind, the songs will inspire attitudes to party, drink and fight.
It is ultimately the anti-thesis of sitting around and letting things happen to you. It has everything to do with making life happen for yourself.
Catch The Smoking Hearts live:
March:
18th - The Devonshire Arms Camden
19th - Goblets Southampton
26th - Esquires Bedford
27th - Man on The Moon Cambridge

THE CHEMISTS RELEASE 'THIS CITY'
The Chemists release their new single 'This City' on March 29th, taken from their much acclaimed debut album which was released late last year.
The video for the single has a dark sci-fi feel and features the much revered British actir Richard E Grant who plays a half-man half-robot character, who is attempting to unplug itself from the main power source. The song details a first hand account of what happens when drugs and drink meet jet lag and hookers in Hong Kong, as experienced by vocalist Johnny Benn.
LOSERS GEAR UP TO RELEASE 'FLUSH'
With a taster release 'No Man Is An Island (theme From Losers)' whetting dancefloor appetites throughout the country and reaching the top 3 in the Zzub Chart, Losers are set to unleash their mammoth single 'Flush' on an unsuspecting world.
Featuring a must-see animated video, the Losers single 'Flush' is released through Distiller records on April 5th.
Boasting a remix package that takes Flush to all corners of the dancefloor, Dan Le Sac kicks off the re-rub action with a Kraftwerk-esque analogue trip that keeps on piling on the riffs until it reaches and Orbital-like crescendo. Skism presents a truly filthy bass workout smashing the ravey dubstep blueprint in the process. South Central perform a complete switch-up eschewing the vocals for driving beats and incessant bass before breaking out the guitars to complete the indie-electro crossover. Finally Sukh Knight steps up with an Envy heavy re-fix complete with half step rhythms and woofer-worrying subs.
LETS GO TO WAR RELEASE 'WOLVES'
Canada's Let's Go To War release their new single 'Wolves' on March 22nd, with their debut album 'Karmageddon' following the week after.
'Wolves' with its unashamedly pop vocals is looking to pave the way for an album having already become a staple in Toronto's club scene.
'Wolves' is accompanies by two tracks, which are the result of a collaboration between Toronto's electro guitar heroes and some of London's most inventive and busiest underground dubstep masters Tomb Crew. Tracklisting: 1. Wolves 2. Life We Live [Tomb Crew vs LGTW] 3. Life We Live [Tomb Crew Dub]

fun.
(without a capital 'f' and with an added full stop), is what happens
when three extraordinarily talented musicians come together to create
something altogether new and wonderful. Nate Ruess, late of The Format,
has teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff,
resulting in their ingenious debut, Aim And Ignite. The trio
melds an array of diverse inspirations - spanning Broadway to The Beach
Boys, 'Nilsson Schmilsson' to 'Pinkerton' - into an irresistible
collection of freewheeling pop songcraft.
First track on the double A side, Walking the Dog, has an early Vampire Weekend and Good Shoes sensibility about it. Be Calm,
melds finely wrought chamber-pop orchestrations - all brass and strings
and multi-tracked harmonies - with guitar-fueled rock 'n' roll,
resulting in a distinctive sound which simultaneously recalls the past
yet remains very current.

'Watercolour' heralds a glorious evolution in the Pendulum sound. Now utilising a richer sonic tapestry than ever before, the sublime 'Watercolour' finds Rob Swire's
vocals alternating between eerie distortion and full-blooded energy
amidst flourishes of horns and an atmospheric, tension building
breakdown. The track's progressive structure highlight's Pendulum's
growing strength in constructing contrasting dynamics. "Please
enjoy this refreshing musical beverage, bottled at source from the
sparkling clear streams of Camden (and Perth, Australia). What better

THE SWORD HEAD BACK INTO STUDIO
Having spent most of 2009 supporting Metallica on their World Magnetic Tour and a number of their 2008 shows sharing the stage and drums with Lars Ulrich, The Sword are back in the studio recording their third LP.

The Sword's Trivett Wingo had the following to say:
"Sword fans everywhere, since you wouldn't stop asking for a new album, we figured we'd write some songs and give you what you deserve. Last week we started recording our as of yet untitled third full length with producer and engineer Matt Bayles here in Austin. We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves and of course you'll be the judge, but let's say we have a strong intuition that this will be our best release to date."

SUN DIAL SELF-TITLED RELEASE
Cult psychedelic/stoner rock band Sun Dial celebrate their 20th anniversary by returning from the wilderness with a brand new self-titled studio album, released April 26th.

A critic's favourite back in the early 1990's, Sun Dial were and are the perfect assembly of grunge, shoegazing and moody late 60's psychedelia. After a rather lengthy sabbatical, the band are back with an album that effortlessly straddles stoner rock, grunge and in places even metal.
This self-titled new album is darker, heavier and with a relentless focus brought about by personal adversity and the determination to show the band's musical talent with no tricks/studio gimmicks. This hardcore approach has led them to what they believe to be their best and most essential release.
In 2003, Sun Dial made a triumphant return with the heavily psychedelic/pop overtones of Zen For Sale. Now they unleash what is without doubt their heaviest and strongest offering to date with blistering guitars and a brutal production.
"We're both very reclusive now," admits Russ, "And have developed a mistrust of most people as well as a dose of dark humour due to our sometimes ridiculous circumstances." Add to that Aleister Crowley, occult magic, Hanna Barbera and old horror films and you get the strange melting pot that is Sun Dial.
JAGUAR LOVE HOLOGRAM JAMS
Jaguar Love release their new album, 'Hologram Jams' on April 26th. It is the first Jaguar Love album to feature the band's stripped down and rebuilt from the ground up two-piece line up of Johnny Whitney (Vocals, keys, drum machines) and Cody Votolato (Guitars, vocals, drum machines), both formerly of the late, lamented Blood Brothers.
During their short career so far the band's inimitable sound has inspired the folks at Matador Records, who signed one album and an EP, as well as Fat Possum, who have now signed them to a worldwide deal.
Whilst there are no finalized plans for Jaguar Love to stalk music-loving prey on the road over here right now, the band promises "endless amounts of touring" so watch this space.
SUBSOURCE RELEASE NEW SINGLE
Subsource say - "Four years ago, 20 miles south of central London, four people went into a studio to start a war. Fucked off with so-called live dance acts mincing behind laptops, and rock acts with no more substance than the product in their hair we decided things had to change.
Following the release of October's crowd favourite 'The Reason (parasite)', Subsource's electro, metal and unique take on dubstep influences come to the fore of the socially charged track 'The Ides'.
This single will be released March 29th along with the album 'Tales From The Doombox', which is set for release on April 5th.
Building on the successful release of 'Departure EP' the band's critically acclaimed first release, the Kent-based band kick off 2010 with their huge second single 'Glass Figures'.
The single which preceeds the bands debut album 'The Shapes We Fear Are Of Our Own' (1st March) with a thunderous, engaging, Jeff Buckley/Editors-esque crossover was produced by Paul Schroeder (The Stone Roses, The Verve), Cenzo Townshend (Editors, Bloc Party, Klaxtons) and Bob Ludwig (RATM, Radiohead, Tool).
Motion Picture Soundtrack again assert
themselves as not only masters of the crescendo but excellent at
uniting thoughtful tender moments with out and out crushing rock. With
people across the UK taking a deeper interest in their work and an
ever-increasing number of fans discovering the power of the live show,
they are truly a band to connect with. The coming year could well be
theirs.
